What can you expect?

Three eventful days on the mountain with the best opportunity to test the latest hiking equipment from Salewa and LaMunt and experience a guided summit and glacier tour. You are of course allowed to keep the equipment, and additionally, Salewa provides you with Puez series multi-day backpacks on loan. Your prize also includes one night at the Berliner Hut and one night at the Schwarzenstein Hut including half board.

Day 1: The meeting point is on Friday at the Bründl Sports Shop in Mayrhofen, where you will meet all participants and your certified mountain guide will equip you with glacier gear. From there, you take a bus to Ginzling to the Breitlahner guest house and hike together to the Berliner Hut, where you can relax and end the day comfortably.

Day 2: Early on Saturday, you head towards Schwarzsee, initially over gentle meadows up to the alpine terrain at the start of the glacier. From here, your mountain guide, roped up with glacier equipment, leads you to today's destination - the Schwarzenstein at 3,369 m. After a well-deserved break with a stunning panorama, you descend to the Schwarzenstein Hut, the highest shelter in the Zillertal at 3,026 m. Upon arrival, you can reflect on the eventful day and enjoy the last rays of the sun.

Day 3: On Sunday, after a leisurely breakfast, you tackle the last leg. The descent takes you towards Floitengrund past the Greizer Hut, which is perfect for a short break. From there, you go to the material cable car, where a taxi awaits you and takes you back to the Bründl Sports Shop in Mayrhofen. Alternatively, a challenging (independent!) descent to Ginzling is also possible.

What do you need to bring?

You will be moving in open, alpine terrain and should already have mountain experience and be sure-footed. Good physical condition for about 7 hours of walking time, with 1,300 meters of ascent and 1,700 meters of descent is required. You must carry your own overnight gear for two nights and glacier equipment (helmet, ice axe, climbing harness) during the three days of hiking.

When does it start?

The weekend event takes place from August 23 to 25, 2024. Depending on the weather conditions, it will be decided whether the glacier crossing and summit attempt of Schwarzenstein are possible. Otherwise, an alternative tour will be planned.

Where does it start?

The meeting point is Friday morning at our Bründl Sports Shop in Mayrhofen. Here you will meet the other participants and receive your rental equipment for the glacier crossing. Multi-day backpacks are also available for testing. We will send you the hiking clothing, consisting of trousers, jacket, rain jacket, fleece or long sleeve, and functional shirts in advance. Afterwards, you will travel together by bus to Ginzling, where the ascent to the Berliner Hut begins. On Sunday, after the descent, a taxi awaits you to take you back to the Bründl Sports Shop in Mayrhofen. (Alternatively, a further independent and challenging descent to Ginzling is also possible.)
